This information is important for you to consider when determining whether the
cost of enrolling your child at J. Frank White Academy will fit into your family
budget:
College classes included in high school tuition!
Included in the price of tuition, Academy students can earn up to 30 credit
hours at LMU. The cost of a three credit hour undergraduate course at LMU
is $1,635. Students who take full advantage of this opportunity can
complete their freshman year at LMU while in high school at no extra cost (a
value of $13,104 in college tuition). This does not include the money
saved on room and board and other living expenses of the first year of college.
Getting ahead of the game!
Consider also that if a student is able to complete college training a year
earlier, it puts him or her one year closer to earning a professional salary and
eliminates a year of running up debt while not working full time or not working
at all.
Get more than what you pay for!
Tuition for the J. Frank White Academy is set at about half the actual cost and
subsidized through fundraising* and through the resources of Lincoln Memorial
University.
Scholarship opportunities!
Academy graduates who enroll at Lincoln Memorial University automatically
receive at least a $3,000 scholarship renewable for up to four years. (To
have the scholarship renewed, the student must maintain a designated GPA at the
University each year.)
A high percentage of Academy graduates traditionally receive generous
scholarships to the colleges and universities they enter. As the guidance
counselor for examples.
To assist families and students who want to enroll at the Academy but do not
have the financial means, the Academy offers limited scholarship money which is
awarded based on financial need and academic achievement. You should apply
as soon as possible to be considered for a scholarship. (Note:
Because of TSSAA restrictions, students who receive scholarship funds are not
allowed to participate in sports).
Convenient monthly payment plan!
The cost for 2007-2008 is 385.84 per month in 12 monthly payments. (Payments
must begin in June to be spread over the entire year. Starting later will
result in a higher monthly payment).
To pay monthly, parents must enroll in the APS system which automatically drafts
the charge from a specified bank account each month. APS charges an
additional $50 fee in the first payment. Or, parents can make a one-time
payment of $4,630 at the beginning of the school year or earlier. We
request a $100 non-refundable deposit to hold a student's place once he or she
is accepted.
Expenses not included in tuition are textbooks and materials, meals,
transportation, extracurricular activities, yearbook and graduation fees.
*Notes about fundraising: Fundraising efforts at the Academy occur in
several categories. There is fundraising for general operating costs
(annual fund) which includes teacher salaries; long range fundraising for the
endowment; fundraising to cover all costs of athletics (which are not included
in the general operating budget) and fundraising for scholarships.
Parents, students, faculty, staff, alumni and other friends of the Academy make
monetary donations, volunteer countless hours, give gifts of supplies and
in-kind donations. Students are not permitted to participate in door to door solicitation. All of this is very much appreciated and vital to the
success of the J. Frank White Academy.
