January 2014

Dear parents,

Second semester in the new building already! I hope you all are feeling comfortable with Edline and utilizing the system to access your student’s progress and performance.

So far this year, high school students have taken the ASVAB test, which is given by the military and designed to give an idea of the individual’s strengths and weaknesses, the PSAT, designed to give an idea of how the taker will perform on the SAT, and the PLAN test, designed to give an idea of how the taker will perform on the ACT. The results for each of these tests have returned to us and have been distributed to students.

Parents of seniors: With income tax returns right around the corner, don’t forget to file a FAFSA report for your student. Links to the FAFSA can be found at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  This paperwork is used to determine financial help for college.

The Spring End of Course Exams will be given between April 28 and May 8. Subject areas to be tested are as follows:

Algebra I & II, English I, II, & III, Biology I, Chemistry I, and US History.

Don’t forget to check the calendar posted on our website for upcoming events but, in particular, keep in mind that Preview Day is set for President’s Day, February 17th. Spread the word and invite any interested students to come walk through the daily routine of a J. Frank White Academy Knight! Participants will be paired with an Academy student for the day.

I look forward to an exciting semester!
