Management and Leadership Studies Program (MLP)

LMU's program in Management and Leadership Studies is designed for working adults who want to obtain a bachelor's degree. By integrating your career and workplace experiences with the study of business, you'll earn a degree that is relevant to your workplace needs and that allows you to focus directly on developing the skills you need to assume management and leadership roles.

Admission Requirements

Admission to Lincoln Memorial University:

  • Submit an LMU admission application and the nonrefundable $25 application fee
  • Request all official transcripts from accredited institutions you have attended to be sent to the LMU Admissions Office
Upon your admission to the University, you will be contacted about the admission process to the Management and Leadership Studies Program which entails: 
  • Admission to LMU
  • Attaining the age of 23
  • Completing at least 60 semester credit hours from a post-secondary institution as evidenced by official transcripts sent directly from the college or university to the Admissions Office
  • Having earned a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on all academic work completed
  • Completing at least 26 semester credit hours of the General Education Core Curriculum for the MLP
  • Submitting two letters of recommendation - one character reference and one employer reference
  • Providing a writing sample (a minimum of two pages) to the MLP director that includes a self-analysis and the purpose and goals for participating in the MLP
  • Completing a personal interview with an MLP advisor; and
  • Paying a $100 admission fee (applied to tuition) to reserve space in the designated cohort group (non-refundable and non-transferable)

Special Features

Utilizing a cohort-group approach, the MLP consists of 12 modules (42 hours of study) that can be completed over a 66-week period.

The MLP courses follow a building-block approach structured around a rigorous management and leadership business function core.

The convenient course schedule allows you to take one class at a time, and because core module classes meet only one night per week, you can complete your degree and have a career.

MLS 300 Quantitative Business Analysis (5 weeks-3 semester hours)
MLS 430 Marketing for Managers (5 weeks-3 semester hours)
MLS 410 Project Management (7 weeks-4 semester hours)

MLS 394 Accounting for Managers (5 weeks-3 semester hours)
MLS 307 Survey of Economics (5 weeks-3 semester hours)
MLS 420 Finance for Managers (5 weeks-3 semester hours)
MLS 440 Business Strategy in a Global Environment (7 weeks-4 semester hours)
Plus one online MLS elective to be taken at any time during the program:

Curriculum Information

A baccalaureate degree from LMU requires 128 hours. To meet this requirement, student hours may come from a combination of the following:

  • Transferable college credit hours
  • Special credit, which includes Prior Learning Portfolio
  • Credit by Examination
  • LMU MLP core curriculum
