support, and knowledge you need to become the teacher you want to be. As a graduate of our program,
you will belong to a tradition of great teachers. For more than one hundred years, LMU has provided public

Special Features
This four-year professional program combines academic experiences in the university classroom with
real-world practice in PK-12 classrooms.
Professional development workshops and multicultural field experiences are provided by the
Dr.
Mildred T. Headley Center for Professional Collaboration housed in the Department of Education.
Our faculty members have had extensive experience as educational practitioners. Their diverse
experience gives you the opportunity to learn practical information that can be applied in your
own classroom.
Course Information
LMU's undergraduate teacher education program offers courses leading to a bachelor of science
with initial teacher licensure in:
- Elementary Education, K-6
- Secondary Education
- Business
- Biology
- Chemistry
- English
- History
- Mathematics
- K-12 Education
- Physical Education (Kinesiology)
- Visual Arts
Your preparation begins with general studies courses to establish a knowledge base. It continues
through the development of the major and the Professional Education Core, culminating in the Clinical
Practice Experience (student teaching).
Your advisor will help you map out an educational plan to suit your particular needs.
Internships
Teacher education candidates are placed in PK-12 Professional Development Schools of Partnership.
These schools are located in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Graduate & Professional Opportunities
After completing your bachelor's degree, you may choose to continue your education by enrolling in
the master's of education program housed in LMU's Graduate Department of the Carter & Moyers School
of Education.
Clubs & Organizations
Students enrolled in the Teacher Education Program belong to the Student Education Association (SEA),
an organization devoted to encouraging professional development, addressing educational issues, and
promoting professional ethics and standards.

LMU's Office of Testing, Teaching Licensure & Certification prepares teacher education candidates to meet the requirements
for the Praxis Series tests, which are necessary for program completion.
