The biology program at LMU is a comprehensive four-year
program in which students take a broad variety of
biology, chemistry and wildlife biology courses.Special features
The program offers two tracts: 1) pre-professional for those students considering medical school, pharmacy, veterinary science etc. and 2) ecology for those students considering careers in conservation. Internships are available for those interested in conservation.
Courses information
The curriculum includes courses in genetics, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, ecology, vertebrate and invertebrate zoology, botany and statistics.
A minor in biology is offered. Many biology majors minor in chemistry.
Internship opportunities
Interns have been place with Tennessee Valley Authority, Tennessee Wildlife
Resources Agency, Cumberland Gap
National Historical Park and Tennessee
state parks.
Career opportunities
Many biology graduates have gained employment with conservation agencies, several graduates now serve as medical doctors
and others as veterinarians.
Graduate/professional schools
Students have recently been accepted at the University of Tennessee, East Tennessee State University, Middle Tennessee State University, Austin Peay State
University and Central Michigan.
