One of the goals of LMU's athletic training program is to expose students to as much of the athletic training profession as we possibly can. Because we are continually adding new affiliate sites and clinical instructors, you'll get practical experience in athletic training beginning very early in your education and you'll work with a young and innovative staff that is excited about teaching. This focus sets us apart from many other programs and ensures that our graduates are ready for the ever-growing field of athletic training.

LMU's program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).

Internship Opportunities

LMU has established several affiliate sites which offer students clinical rotations with high school and collegiate athletics, physical therapy clinics and hospitals. Internship opportunities exist with Tennessee Orthopedic Clinic (TOC), Tri-State Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and Claiborne County Hospital and Rehabilitation Services

In addition, our students observe and work in an orthopedic clinic through an agreement with Dubin Orthopedics in Middlesboro, KY; and students conduct general medical rotations at Heartland Medical Clinic, under the supervision of Luis Pannocchia, M.D.

Career Opportunities

With your degree, you can work as a physician extender or as an athletic trainer in a clinic, hospital, high school, college, or professional sports. Numerous positions are also available as a graduate assistant.

Alumni Success

In addition to going on to graduate school, medical school, and chiropractic school, LMU's athletic training alumni run their own businesses and work as athletic trainers for high schools, clinics, and athletic equipment companies. Many also pursue careers as college instructors, collegiate athletic trainers, and athletic training education program directors.

Clubs & Organizations

LMU's Athletic Training Student Association provides athletic training majors with a variety of opportunities to get involved on campus and the community, such as our Athletic Training Student Olympics.

Departmental Awards

Each year one major is named the Athletic Training Student of the Year.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

Scholarships are available from the Tennessee Athletic Trainers' Society, Southeast Athletic Trainers Association, National Athletic Trainers' Association, and Lincoln Memorial University.
