Dr. Sherilyn Emberton - Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Sherilyn Emberton oversees the leadership of the six academic schools. She is originally from Texas and served as director, department chair, dean and associate vice president before coming to LMU in 2007. She is a past president of the Texas Teacher Educators, Education Deans of Independent Colleges and Universities in Texas and Executive Committee of the Consortium for State Colleges of Texas Teacher Education. Dr. Emberton has served on the editorial review boards for the Forum and the International Journal for Christian Colleges of Teacher Education. She is currently serving as a Councilor for the Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) and a Powe Review Coordinator in the areas of education and public policy.
Dr. Emberton has been recognized as the John O. Stephens Outstanding Alumnus from Stephen F. Austin State University, the John O. Selby Teacher of the Year Award from LeTourneau University, Leader of the Year Award from the Texas Association of Colleges of Teacher Education, and recently honored with a Special Service Award from the LMU Student Government Association.
She is a member of the Knoxville Higher Education Forum, Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Council of Deans and has was selected to attend the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) Institute for Chief Academic Officers, and the Academic Leaders for the 21st Century Institute sponsored in collaboration with the CIC and the Association of Public Colleges and Universities.
Dr. Emberton holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University and a doctorate in education from Texas A&M University.
