Dr. J. Michael Clyburn - Dean, Carter and Moyers School of Education
Dr. Clyburn oversees one of LMU’s oldest and largest programs. The Carter and Moyers School of Education includes the undergraduate, master’s, educational specialist and educational doctorate programs as well as the University’s college preparatory school, the J. Frank White Academy.
Clyburn served as LMU’s vice president for academic affairs and provost from 2004-2007. He left to assume the presidency of Louisburg College and most recently served as president of Alderson-Broaddus College. Clyburn returned to LMU in 2011.
Prior to his first stint with LMU, Clyburn was the academic division chair for the Management and Adult Division at his undergraduate alma mater, Trevecca Nazarene University. He has also held administrative positions and taught at several institutions.
Clyburn holds a Doctor of Education in educational administration and supervision from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Arts in sociology from Middle Tennessee State University. He graduated summa cum laude from Trevecca with a Bachelor of Arts in religion.
