Dr. Fred Bedelle - Dean, Carter and Moyers School of Education
Dr. Bedelle has a long standing connection with LMU. He received his BS from LMU in1954. Dr. Bedelle was the first dean of graduate studies at LMU and is currently serving as dean of the Carter and Moyers School of Education.
Dr. Bedelle received his MS and EdD degrees from The University of Tennessee. He had 30 years in public education before coming to LMU in 1988 as adjunct graduate faculty. He served as instructional supervisor, collective bargaining negotiator and assistant superintendent for finance for the Knox County Board of Education, and worked as personnel director, director of research and pupil personnel services, assistant superintendent, deputy superintendent and superintendent in the Knoxville City Schools.
Dr. Bedelle has received Governor’s appointment to the Task Force for Day Care, Letter of Commendation for service with the American Youth Association, Knox County Award for Service to Education, Knoxville Board of Education Service to Education Award, the Houston Award for excellence in teaching at LMU, the Dr. Ralph Evans Award for excellence in education and the Cambridge Professional of the Year Award.
Dr. Bedelle enjoys fishing, yard work, woodworking, four grandchildren and just being at home on the lake with wife Norma, also a LMU graduate.
