Welcome to the Lincoln Memorial University research collection of the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum.

Please read these instructions for use of archival materials and complete the form at the bottom of this page. Materials used in the Reading Room should be listed on the reverse side of this sheet. A photo id will be required to request archival materials.

Leave your coats, purses, briefcases, and other such materials on the coat rack or designated area.

Food and drink are not allowed in the room.

Handle archival documents carefully.

Because the archives are in a specific order/file arrangement, you will be required to ask for documents prior to use. Maintain documents in the order that you find them.

Do not use fountain pens to take notes (pencils will be supplied upon request). No marks may be made on materials, and no books or other objects may rest on the surface of the records.

Do not remove documents from the reading room, unless granted permission to photocopy.

Researchers are responsible for obtaining necessary publication rights and/or copyright clearances before publication.

Prior to publishing a book or electronic publication about Lincoln Memorial University, you agree to consult with University officials or designated staff as to the release of materials.

You agree to abide by whatever restrictions have been placed upon materials that you consult in the archives.

You agree to hold the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum/the University harmless in any legal actions arising out of your use of documents in our custody.

You agree to acknowledge your use of the holdings of the Archives through footnotes, credits, or some other means appropriate to your particular project.

Staff and security personnel reserve the right to examine briefcases, bags, and notes.
