Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

What is BYOD?
Bring your own device (BYOD) is a policy that allows students to bringing personally owned mobile devices onto the campus to access privileged LMU resources such as email, file servers and databases as well as their personal applications and data.

LMU Approach
In order to maintain full compliance with the LMU Network Policy, the LMU I.T. Department is rolling out a new Network Access Control Appliance (NAC). The NAC requires each user to register each device and bring that device into compliance before being granted network access.

What Devices Are Supported?
  1. Apple Devices
    1. iPhone 3GS or newer
    2. iPad - All models (WiFi only and Cellular)
(iOS 5.0 or newer is recommended for any Apple Device)
  2. Android Devices
    1. Android devices running version 2.2 or later
LMU IS Responsibilities
Each student will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of his or her own device. The IS department will assist students with basic software configuration and connectivity issues only. Additionally, students who purchase Lenovo computers through the Student Purchase Option below will be entitled to basic hardware support of their Lenovo PCs as long as the PC still has an active warranty and the student is still actively enrolled in LMU. Students who purchase Apple computers from the Student Purchase Option and students who purchase their PC from any other vendor will not receive any hardware support.
