Dr. Jonathan Leo received his B.A. from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. In 1995, he received his Ph.D. in anatomy from the University of Iowa where he studied the effect of drugs on the developing brain. He then became an assistant professor of anatomy at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific at Western University of the Health Sciences (WUHS). During his nine-year tenure he taught gross anatomy, physiology and neuroscience in numerous programs, including the medical, physician assistant, physical therapy, pharmacy and nursing programs. In the medical school, he also served as the course director for both Medical Neuroscience and the Head and Neck section of Gross Anatomy. Dr. Leo won several teaching awards during his stay at WUHS.

In 2004, he became assistant dean of student affairs at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) in Bradenton Florida. He also taught anatomy and served as a facilitator in the problem-based learning curriculum.

He has written chapters on neurophysiology and neuropharmacology for several leading medical textbooks. He has also been published in several scientific journals.

For the past ten years Dr. Leo has served as a Kaplan Board Review Lecturer for the COMLEX and USMLE exams, in which capacity he has lectured at many of the Osteopathic colleges. He is also a co-author of the Kaplan Anatomy Review textbook.

Paul Carney was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. He is a first-generation college student and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Paul worked his way through college holding positions as a bellman and front desk clerk at a hotel near the UT campus. It was at this time that he developed an affinity for travel.

After college, Paul earned a Master of Science degree in College Student Personnel, also from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. While in graduate school he participated in a practicum in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and another in the College of Liberal Arts Advising Services.

Paul has over ten years of undergraduate admissions and student affairs experience. Upon completion of his master’s degree he served as interim director of career services and admissions counselor with Averett College (now Averett University) in Danville, Virginia from 1994-1996.

From 1996-2003 Paul served as assistant director of undergraduate admissions at Virginia Tech (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University) in Blacksburg, Virginia. After nearly ten years in Virginia, Paul returned to his hometown of Knoxville and his alma mater. In October of 2003, he accepted a position with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and served as program coordinator in the Professional and Personal Development division of the Department of Outreach and Continuing Education.

Paul now makes his return to admissions. On August 1, 2006, he was appointed to the position of director of admissions for the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine at Lincoln Memorial University. As a first-generation college student, Paul is committed to educational excellence and access for all. He looks forward to working with prospective students as an educational counselor and partner in their education pursuits and career endeavors.

Patricia (Pat) Peace is a 1972 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University with a B.S. in accounting. Following graduation she began working as director of financial aid at LMU and continued in that capacity until January 1993, when she accepted the position of director of financial aid at Pellissippi State Technical Community College in Knoxville, Tennessee. She retired from Pellissippi in June 2006, and came home to Harrogate and LMU. She was appointed director of financial services for the Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in August 2006.

During her 35 years in financial aid, Pat has conducted hundreds of financial aid workshops for students and parents throughout East Tennessee and Southeast Kentucky. This has been one of the most rewarding parts of her job because parents and students going through the financial aid process for the first time are often lost and are so appreciative of the information and assistance they receive. Pat has been a member of the Tennessee Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators for 35 years, during which time she has held various offices and has been a presenter for numerous conference sessions. She has served on the TSAC Advisory Board and on the TSAC Lottery Scholarship Advisory Board.

Over the years, Pat has seen monumental changes in financial aid and is amazed at the number of programs and amount of money available to students today. When asked what she enjoys most about her job, her reply is always “seeing a student walk across the stage at commencement, knowing the financial struggle the student had gone through and knowing that what I did made a difference.”

Janette Martin moved to Harrogate from Wichita, Kansas. Janette worked in social service for over 30 years in the Wichita area, where she received her undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management from Friends University. She managed a reintegration facility for juvenile offenders for 15 years and spent the other 15 years working with children and adults with developmental disabilities. Her community volunteer work included being a volunteer conservator through the Kansas Guardianship Program, volunteering with the Teen Heartline, a suicide prevention service for young people, and countless hours of volunteer service with the Special Olympics.
