Mars Hill College 3-2 in the first round of the Food Lion South Atlantic
Conference Softball Tournament on Thursday morning in Newberry, South
Carolina.

Homerun In The 11th Inning Lifts Lady Railsplitters To Double
Header Sweep Of Union College
Playing in the final home game of her career at Lincoln Memorial
University, Lady Railsplitter senior Alisa Burk (Blaine, WA) hit
a walk-off blast in the bottom of the eleventh inning of Thursday
night’s non-conference double header with Union College to give the Lady
Railsplitters an 8-7 win. The victory came only a short time after LMU
started off the night with an 8-4 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.

Early Inning Mistakes In Game Two Cost
Lady Railsplitters Sweep Of Catawba
Wednesday’s South Atlantic Conference meeting with Catawba was anything
but ordinary. After putting together a solid 5-2 win over CC in the
first game of a double header in which LMU generated 10 hits, the Lady
Railsplitters came out flat in the first inning of the second game,
prompting Head Coach Dan Burns
to make several lineup changes.

of Newberry College split a critical South Atlantic Conference double header
on Sunday afternoon on LMU’s Dorothy Neely Field.

Softball Series
The Mars Hill softball team
split with Lincoln Memorial University Wednesday afternoon at Ponder Park.
MHC won the first game 9-2 and then lost the nightcap, 7-2. The Lions are
now 33-10 overall while the Lady Railsplitters fell 27-12 on the season.
Both teams left the field with a 5-5 record in the league.

The Union College Lady Bulldogs captured a 9-6 win over Lincoln Memorial
(Tenn.) University in the second game of the doubleheader to earn a
split at home Tuesday. Lincoln Memorial needed eight innings to win the
first game 5-4.

2008 LMU Softball Team Is For
Real
If there were any naysayers of just how good the Lincoln Memorial University
softball team is this year, they were quickly silenced this weekend in
Salisbury, North Carolina. The Lady Railsplitters entered Friday evening’s
first round action of the Catawba College Tournament at 11-3 overall and won
four of five games this weekend, including one win over a top-25 ranked
opponent.

coach Brandon Duncan his first-ever collegiate victory Saturday afternoon
when the Bearcats defeated Lincoln Memorial University, 4-3, in extra

Largest Recruiting Class Ever
Lincoln Memorial
University Head Softball Coach Dan Burns eagerly announced the signing
of seven players for the 2008-09 season Wednesday morning. With the 2008
spring schedule less than three months away, Burns has been looking
forward to the Lady Railsplitters' needs next season.
The NCAA allows its
NCAA Division II member institutions to sign student-athletes for
softball during the early period which runs from November 14-21.
