Adams To Play Softball At Lincoln Memorial
The Lincoln Memorial University softball team recently announced another addition to the squad for the 2007-08 season.  Jackie Adams, a 5’2” outfielder from Columbus, Ohio will play next year for the Lady Railsplitters.

Walker Named Daktronics First Team All-America
Lincoln Memorial University’s Brittney Walker (Ooltewah, TN) has been named Daktronics First Team All-America by the sports information directors across the country.  The announcement came Thursday afternoon from the national coordinator for softball.

Walker Named Daktronics South Atlantic Region Player Of The Year
Lincoln Memorial University softball player Brittney Walker (Ooltewah, TN) has been named Daktronics First Team All-South Atlantic Region as an outfielder and South Atlantic Region Player of the Year.  The announcement came from the regional coordinator late Tuesday evening and is a poll taken of the sports information directors throughout the region.

Henn Named Second Team Daktronics All-South Atlantic Region
Lincoln Memorial University softball player Sara Henn (Kettering, OH) has been named Daktronics Second Team All-South Atlantic Region as a third baseman.  The announcement came from the regional coordinator late Tuesday evening and is a poll taken of the sports information directors throughout the region.

LMU Dethrones King On Lady Railsplitter Senior Day
With the exception of a lead-off homerun in the second game of a double-header Saturday afternoon, the Lady Railsplitter softball team had little trouble rolling up a senior day double-header sweep of visiting King College.

Winney & Henn LMU Female Newcomers Of The Year
Lincoln Memorial University women’s basketball freshman Andi Winney (Yorktown, IN) and softball freshman Sara Henn (Kettering, OH) were named Monday night as LMU’s Co-Female Newcomers of the Year at the University’s annual athletics banquet.

LMU & Tusculum Split For The Second Time This Season
For the second time this season the Lincoln Memorial University and Tusculum College softball teams have split a softball double-header against each other.  On April 9 Tusculum took the upper hand by winning the first game between the two in-state rivals 10-3.  LMU evened the score in the final game of the afternoon by coming away with a 7-3 win over the Lady Pioneers to split the series.

Lady Railsplitters De-Fang Lady Cobras
The Lincoln Memorial University softball team picked up two more wins Friday evening by run-ruling Virginia Intermont College in the first game of a double-header 10-2 and shutting out the Lady Cobras in the second game 2-0.

Burns Reaches Another Milestone With LMU Softball Program
Lady Railsplitter softball coach Dan Burns has worn many hats since coming to Lincoln Memorial University.  When he came to Harrogate from his hometown of Kettering, Ohio in 1970 as a student-athlete, he played for the Railsplitter baseball and basketball teams.  Following graduation in 1974, he became the assistant coach for the baseball team and eventually took over as the head coach of the Railsplitters Following the retirement of his mentor Dean Bailey.

Lady Splitters Shock Carson-Newman
Wednesday afternoon’s double-header split with Carson-Newman may have been a shock to Lady Eagle fans but not to Lincoln Memorial University Head Coach Dan Burns.  The LMU women lost their first game to Carson-Newman 7-1 but rebounded to win game-two 7-2 to spit the series in the only meeting between the two schools this season.

Mars Hill Sweeps LMU In Softball
Mars Hill College's softball team swept Lincoln Memorial University this afternoon at Ponder Park by scores of 10-2 and 5-4. Ashley Harber (Goose Creek, SC) hit a one-out solo homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Lions to victory in game two. MHC improved to 20-6 on the season while LMU fell to 12-8 on the year with the losses.

The Lady Railsplitter softball team fell to 3-6 following Wednesday afternoon’s double-header loss to Mars Hill College at home on the Dorothy Neely Field.  The LMU women were defeated 2-1 in the opening game of the afternoon while falling 6-5 in ten innings of play in game two.

Wednesday’s sweep of the visiting Patriots from the University of the Cumberlands was anything but easy for the Lady Railsplitter softball team.  The LMU women scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning of game-one to come away with a 3-0 win, while breaking a 5-5 tie in the seventh inning of game-two for the 6-5 win.
