A former standout on the LMU tennis team, Mr. Bondurant
became the Assistant to the President for Intercollegiate Athletics at LMU
in the summer of 1993. He served in that position until January 2004 when
he became Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. While serving as
Athletic Director, Bondurant was responsible for the management of LMU’s 13
intercollegiate sports. He has also served as the tennis liaison for the
Gulf South Conference for the past several years.
Bondurant has served as the women’s tennis coach since
1992. He is LMU’s winningest women’s tennis coach having compiled a record
of 165-104 through the 2005 season. His first year as men’s coach resulted
in a record of 14-6. Both of his teams were nationally ranked in the
2004-05 season. He has coached several All-GSC players as well as several
academic all-conference honorees and one all-american, Helena Sokolova.
Before returning to his alma mater, Bondurant served as
President of Bondurant Brothers Company, a wholesale electronics distributor
in Knoxville, for several years. During that time he participated in many
local singles and doubles tennis events.
Bondurant has been married to former LMU student Donna
Thompson for more than 40 years. They have two grown children, Bob and
Kathy, as well as three grandchildren. The couple resides in Knoxville.
