In only his first year of collegiate golf with Lincoln Memorial University, Hawes has had five top-5 finishes and has helped the Railsplitters capture a first place trophy on two different occasions, in the Thorobred Golf Invitational in Frankfort, Kentucky and the LMU Invitational held at Woodlake Golf Course in Tazewell, Tennessee. In addition to being named First Team All-South Atlantic Conference, Hawes also received SAC Freshman of the Year honors, narrowly edging out candidates from two other SAC schools.
