OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release April 12, 2007 Railsplitters Finish 8th In BMW Invitational GREENVILLE, SC – Earlier this week, the Lincoln Memorial University men’s golf team competed in the BMW Invitational Golf Tournament held at Verdae Greens Golf Club in Greenville, South Carolina and finished 8th among the teams participating. Among the leaders in the two-day tournament was LMU freshman Nolan Butler (Suffolk, VA). Butler turned in scores of 76 and 73 for a total 149, five strokes back to finish tied for 11th place. Also qualifying among the top-25 was LMU’s Josh Collins (Luttrell, TN) who recorded rounds of 78 and 74 for a final 152, good enough to tie for 21st place overall. Other Railsplitter golfers competing in the tournament finished as follows, Aaron Hammons (Saline, MI) finished with a 79 and a 76 for a total 155 to tie for 33rd place, Steve Cambron (Middlesboro, KY) shot a 79 and an 80 for a final 159 to tie for 49th place, Charlie Hawes (Surrey, England) posted rounds of 78 and 81 for a total 159, also tying for 49th place, Jeremy Gordon (Middlesboro, KY) shot an 81 and a 79 for a final 160 to finish tied for 53rd, Justin Edwards (Kingston, TN) had rounds of 86 and 70 for a total 165 to finish 69th and Justin Leach (Knoxville, TN) finished 82nd with scores of 86 and 89 for a final 179. The Railsplitters now prepare for the South Atlantic Conference Championship Tournament to be held at Lake Hickory Country Club in Hickory, North Carolina this week.
