LMU Ties For Fifth At 2007 Tusculum
Invitational
GREENEVILLE, TN -- The LMU
Men's Golf team tied host Tusculum for fifth place at the 2007 Tusculum
College Men's Golf Invitational, held this weekend at Link Hills Country
Club. Grand Valley State University posted a two-day 588 to win
the event.
Tusculum's Darren Christie, playing as an individual, captured
medalist honors by tying an invitational record two-under par 140 with
back-to-back rounds of 70. Christie ties the record held by Matt
Robertson of Lee University, who shot 70-70=140 in 2003.
Grand Valley State wins its second TC Invitational title as the Lakers
captured the team crown in 2002. GVSU edged Saginaw Valley State
University by two shots (590). SVSU carded the lowest score of the day
with its 290. USC Upstate finished third with 605, while Tusculum and
Lincoln Memorial University tied for fifth place with 608. Georgia
Southwestern State University finished seventh with 612, followed by
Spartanburg Methodist College (614), Tiffin University (616), Wingate
University "B" (624), Newberry College "B" (627), Walters State
Community College (631), University of Virginia's College at Wise (635),
Mars Hill College (641) and Tri-County Technical College (656).
GVSU's Steve Larson was the tournament runner-up as he finished
one shot behind Christie with his one-under par 141. LMU's Charlie
Hawes finished third with 142, while the Saginaw Valley State pair
of Kasey Hocquard (71-72=143) and Scott Urquhart
(73-71=144) finished fourth and fifth, respectively to round out the
All-Tournament Team.
