OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release October 12, 2006 Railsplitter Golf Team Finishes 3rd at Lindsey Wilson Fall Invitational BURKESVILLE, KY – The Lincoln Memorial University men’s golf team rolled up a 3rd place finish in the recent Lindsey Wilson Fall Invitational Golf Tournament that was held on Monday and Tuesday in Burkesville, Kentucky. (Results) The Railsplitters finished 3rd only to champion Lindsey Wilson College (592) and Campbellsville University (597) by turning in their own score of 603. Team that finished behind Lincoln Memorial were Brescia University (609), Ohio Dominican University (610), Reinhardt College (616) and the University of the Cumberlands (622). Pikeville College was did not finish the tournament. Individually, LMU’s Nolan Butler turned in rounds of 72 and 72 for a total 144 to finish in 2nd place, while senior Aaron Hammons shot a 75 and a 77 for a final 152 to tie for 13th place overall. LMU newcomers Steve Cambron and Charlie Hawes also finished inside the top-20. Cambron shot a 78 and a 76 for a two-day total 154 to tie for 18th place with Hawes who posted a 79 and a 75 for the final 154. Finishing in a tie for 34th place was Railsplitter veteran Jeremy Gordon. Gordon turned in scores of 86 and 73 for a final 159. Freshman Craig McLaughlin placed 38th overall with rounds of 84 and 76 for a final 160, 16 strokes off the leader. LMU’s Jamie Ventura finished 46th by shooting a 92 and an 88 for a tournament score of 180. After competing Wednesday in the Thorobred Golf Invitational in Frankfort, Kentucky, the Railsplitters will be looking to finish the fall schedule in a strong fashion when they host the LMU Fall Invitational at Woodlake Golf Course in Tazewell, Tennessee October 22-24. -LMU- For additional
