LMU Tennis Recognizes Outstanding Individual Achievement

HARROGATE, TN – At Tuesday night’s annual Lincoln Memorial University Athletics Banquet, outgoing Head Coach Lisa-Marie Lewallen presented several awards to members of the 2007-08 men’s and women’s tennis team for outstanding individual achievement this season.

The Most Improved Awards went to LMU men’s tennis player Cody Swindall (Clintwood, VA) and women’s tennis player Rachel Redmond (Somerset, KY).  Receiving the Coach’s Award was Railsplitter Hannes Ganss (Erlangen, Germany) and Lady Railsplitter Martina Rezic (Pula, Croatia).

A relatively new award for the team, the Mental Attitude Award went to Railsplitter freshman Bastian Guenther (Erlangen, Germany) and Lady Railsplitter Kathleen Rollet (Bouge Chambalud, France), while Senior Awards went to multi-sport athlete Marcelo Galafassi (Jundiai, Brazil) and women’s tennis players Rachel Redmond, Kathleen Rollet, Martina Rezic and Sophie Denlinger (West Milton, OH).

Both Lincoln Memorial University men’s and women’s tennis teams won their first round play in the South Atlantic Conference Tennis Tournament but were eliminated championship contention in the semi-finals by Newberry College and Carson-Newman College.
