OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release April 17, 2008 LMU Tennis Teams Advance To South Atlantic Conference Semifinals HARROGATE, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University men’s and women’s tennis teams will travel to Rock Hill, South Carolina on Friday to compete in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament Men’s and Women’s Tennis Semifinals. The No. 7 seed Railsplitters advanced to the semifinals by virtue of a 5-3 quarterfinal road victory over the No. 2 seed Lions of Mars Hill College on Tuesday. The LMU men will face off in against the No. 3 seed Indians of Newberry College who knocked off No. 6 seed Catawba College to advance to the conference final four. The Lady Railsplitters, the No. 4 seed in the 2008 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament, defeated No.5 seed Wingate University 5-4 at home Monday afternoon on the Annan Courts. The Lincoln Memorial women will take on No. 1 seed and arch rival Carson-Newman College on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at the Rock Hill Tennis Center to determine who will meet the winner of the Newberry verses Tusculum match in the conference championship on Saturday. Both teams are under the direction of Head Coach Lisa-Marie Lewallen who has announced that she will step down as head coach of the Lincoln Memorial University tennis programs following the 2008 season. The Railsplitter tennis team enters Friday’s match with Newberry College at 4-10 on the season, while the Lady Railsplitters are 8-8 on the year. -LMU- For additional
