OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release March 13, 2008 Railsplitters Fall Short Against King BRISTOL, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University men’s tennis team fell to 1-6 overall on Wednesday afternoon, as the Railsplitters traveled to Bristol, Tennessee and lost to the Tornado of King College 5-4. The loss marks the Railsplitters' third consecutive defeat with their only win of the year coming against NAIA opponent Georgetown College on March 5. LMU’s Hannes Ganss (Erlangen, Germany) and Bastian Guenther (Erlangen, Germany) were winners at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions. Ganss defeated Kings Jon Jonsson 6-1, 6-2, while Guenther knocked off Oriol Mirallas in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Also a winner in singles play was LMU’s Zack Jones (Murfreesboro, TN). Jones picked up a 5-7, 6-4, 14-12 win over King’s Dustin Davis in the No. 6 singles match. In doubles play, LMU’s only victory of the day came at the No. 1 position. Ganss and Guenther combined to defeat Jon Jonsson and Andre Franco 9-7. The Railsplitters are now idle until their March 19 match with in-state rival Tusculum College. The Railsplitters will host the Pioneers in a dual match with the LMU women that is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. next Wednesday. -LMU- For additional
