OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release September 27, 2006 Mars Hill Volleyball Loses to Lincoln Memorial in Five Games MARS HILL, NC - The Lions volleyball squad lost a closely fought battle to Lincoln Memorial University tonight in Stanford Arena in five games. Scores of the match were 23-30, 31-29, 28-30, 30-23 and 15-12. MHC fell to 6-11 on the season while the Railsplitters improved to 13-4. (Box score) Joy Otto (Barrington, IL) led LMU with 14 kills followed by Alison Hess (Dayton, OH) with 12 and Amanda Horenkamp (Murfreesboro, TN) who recorded 11 kills. Laura Slone (Dandridge, TN) provided LMU with a match high 47 assists in the win. Hess was also the Railsplitters' leader in blocks with four and service aces with three. Jency Basinger (Temecula, CA) led the LMU defense with 30 digs in the match. Rebekka Brown (Sierra Vista, AZ) and Danielle Silvers (Waynesville, NC) led MHC recording 19 and 18 kills in the contest, respectively. Tiffany Oreka (Chesapeake, VA) led the Lions' defense with 38 digs while Jessica Britt (Chesapeake, VA) supplied MHC with 29 assists. Silvers added six blocks for the Lions. Mars Hill will return to action on September 29, when they host SAC rival Presbyterian College at 7 p.m. LMU will play at Kentucky State University on September 30, at 4 p.m.
