Otto Named MVP of LMU Invitational Tournament

HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial University volleyball senior Joy Otto (Barrington, IL) was named Most Valuable Player of the LMU Invitational Tournament over the weekend.

With Otto’s help, the Lady Railsplitters made a clean sweep of their competition in the Invitational, defeating Davis & Elkins College (3-0), Union College (3-1), Ohio Valley University (3-0), and the University of the Cumberlands (3-1).

As a middle blocker, Otto recorded 42 kills, six digs, and eight total blocks while allowing the Lady Railsplitters to kick-off the 2006 campaign with a perfect 4-0 start this weekend.

Although the Lady Railsplitters will not be eligible for a league title in their first year of membership in the South Atlantic Conference this season, the LMU women will be competing for their first post season appearance ever in the in the NCAA South Region.  The Lady Railsplitters travel to Greeneville, Tennessee this Friday for the Tusculum College Fall Classic.
