Brevard Tornado Not Enough To Overcome Lady Railsplitter Desire

HARROGATE, TN – For the second time in as many days, the Lincoln Memorial University volleyball team allowed an opponent to take the first game of a match, only to come all the way back and run the table to take a 3-1 victory.

On Friday evening the Lady Railsplitters hosted Lenoir-Rhyne College and the Bears took the opening game of the match.  LMU eventually got the engine hitting on all eight cylinders and came back to defeat Lenoir-Rhyne 3-1.  On Saturday afternoon, the Lady Splitters did nearly the same thing.  Brevard College, a future South Atlantic Conference opponent, came into the Mary E. Mars Gymnasium and handed LMU a 30-24 loss in the opening game.  However, the loss again sparked the Lady Railsplitters, whose emotions were running high due to senior day festivities at the match.  Lincoln Memorial reeled off consecutive victories of 30-19, 30-28 and 30-20 to capture the win over the Tornados and to improve to 18-10 on the year.

With five matches remaining on the 2007 regular season schedule, LMU has only their Tuesday nigh match against Kentucky State to look forward to at home.  Following that match, the LMU women must play Catawba, Newberry, Tusculum and Wingate on the road before they will know what seed they will get in the upcoming South Atlantic Conference Tournament.  Tuesday night’s match with KSU gets underway at 6:30 p.m.
