OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release October 1, 2006 LMU Volleyball Slams Kentucky State FRANKFORT, KY – Lady Railsplitter freshman setter Amber Vanderlin (Mesquite, TX) led the charge this Saturday as the Lincoln Memorial University volleyball team rolled past Kentucky State University this weekend. (Box score) LMU won 30-8, 30-9 and 30-9 en route to the 3-0 victory and their fourteenth win of the year. Vanderlin set the tone for the Lady Railsplitter offensive attack by handing out 20 assists in the win. Blythe McCulley (Springfield, IL) had five service aces to go along with six kills and Joy Otto (Barrington, IL) added another six to lead the Lady Splitters in the category. On the defensive side of the net, junior Karlee Wyrick (Cincinnati, OH) recorded 12 digs to make things more difficult for the Thorobrette attack. Wyrick was the only Lady Railsplitter to reach double figures in that category. Now 14-4 on the year, the LMU women return home this Tuesday night for the first time in over two weeks to host Lander University. This Tuesday’s match, which will be the last at home until October 17, will get underway at 6:00 p.m. in the Mary E. Mars Gymnasium.
