OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release October 28, 2005 Nationally Ranked UNA Proves Too Much For Lady RailsplittersHARROGATE, TN – The Lady Lions of the University of North Alabama showed the Lincoln Memorial volleyball team what it takes to play at the next level Friday evening. Not having one of their better nights, UNA (28-1), still managed to dispose of the Lady Railsplitters in three games 30-17, 30-23 and 32-30 to hand LMU it’s eleventh loss of the season. Statistically, the Lady Railsplitters' numbers appeared light in most of the categories however, that’s what a nationally ranked team can do to the average opponent. Senior Melissa Blackwell (Victorville, CA) led LMU in kills with nine, while setter Allison Holstein (Brownsburg, IN) was limited to just 23 assists. Defensively, Holstein was the digs leader for the LMU women, recording only 11 digs on the night, while Kristen Atkinson (Sweeny, TX), Joy Otto (Barrington, IL) and Heidi Dreiling (Augusta, KS) each added two total blocks apiece. The loss to the Lady Lions puts LMU’s back to the wall on Saturday evening when they play their home season finale against the University of West Georgia. The Lady Railsplitters must defeat the Braves if they are to keep conference tournament hopes alive. The Braves currently have a one game lead on LMU in a battle for the fourth seed from the GSC Eastern Division. A loss on Saturday would make any chance of post-season place an unlikely occurrence. Saturday’s match gets underway at 6:00 p.m. in the Mary E. Mars Gymnasium. -LMU- For additional
