Homecoming Weekend Gets LMU Women Back in GSC Race

HARROGATE – A pair of conference victories got the Lincoln Memorial University Lady Railsplitter volleyball team right back into the thick of Gulf South Conference tournament contenders this weekend.

On Friday afternoon the Lady Railsplitters knocked of the University of West Alabama by the score of 3-1 to kick-off Homecoming Weekend at LMU on a winning note.  The Lady Railsplitters won 30-28, lost 27-30 in game-two and won games three and four 30-25 and 30-26 to improve to 17-9 on the year and 3-4 in the GSC.

Against Montevallo on Sunday, the Lady Railsplitters avenged their 3-0 September 17, loss to the Lady Falcons in Montevallo, Alabama.  Playing in front of a large home crowd, the LMU women mowed down UM in three games, winning 30-21, 30-26, and 30-27 to move back to the .500 mark in conference play.

The Lady Railsplitters now prepare for a date with non-conference foe Tusculum College on Wednesday evening in Greeneville, Tennessee before traveling next weekend to Pensacola, Florida to take on the University of West Florida on Saturday and Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia on Sunday.  Both matches will be key conference outings for the Lady Railsplitters.
