Holstein Named to Coca Cola Classic All-Tournament Team

MONTEVALLO, AL – Lincoln Memorial University volleyball player Allison Holstein has been named to the Coca Cola Classic All-Tournament Team for her efforts in the Lady Railsplitters matches played Friday and Saturday in the tournament hosted by the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama.

The 5’7” setter from Brownsburg, Indiana helped the Lady Railsplitters capture three wins in four matches played throughout the tournament, including NCAA Division II South Region wins over Albany State University (3-0), Ouachita Baptist University (3-2), and Fort Valley State University (3-0).

The Lady Railsplitters' only loss came on day-one of the tournament when LMU lost to Arkansas Tech University in straight games 3-0.  Following Saturday’s wins, the Lady Railsplitters are now 15-7 on the year and 2-3 in the Gulf South Conference.

Before this weekend’s matches, Holstein had recorded 631 assists this season for an average of 9.56 per game which ranks her among the top-10 assist leaders in the Gulf South Conference.  In addition, prior to this weekend’s matches, Holstein ranked fourth all-time in Lady Railsplitter history in assists (1982 – 293 games) and fourth in assists per game (6.76).

This week the Lady Railsplitters travel to Frankfort, Kentucky for their second match of the season with the Thorobrettes of Kentucky State University.  The last time the two teams met on August 27, 2005, the Lady Railsplitters came away with a 3-0 win over KSU in the LMU Invitational Tournament.  Match time Wednesday is set for 7:00 p.m. on the Kentucky State University campus.
