Holstein Named to Coca Cola Classic All-Tournament Team
MONTEVALLO, AL – Lincoln Memorial University
volleyball player Allison Holstein has been named to the Coca Cola
Classic All-Tournament Team for her efforts in the Lady Railsplitters
matches played Friday and Saturday in the tournament hosted by the
University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama.
The 5’7” setter from Brownsburg, Indiana helped the
Lady Railsplitters capture three wins in four matches played throughout the
tournament, including NCAA Division II South Region wins over Albany State
University (3-0), Ouachita Baptist University (3-2), and Fort Valley State
University (3-0).
The Lady Railsplitters' only loss came on day-one of
the tournament when LMU lost to Arkansas Tech University in straight games
3-0. Following Saturday’s wins, the Lady Railsplitters are now 15-7 on the
year and 2-3 in the Gulf South Conference.
Before this weekend’s matches, Holstein had recorded
631 assists this season for an average of 9.56 per game which ranks her
among the top-10 assist leaders in the Gulf South Conference. In addition,
prior to this weekend’s matches, Holstein ranked fourth all-time in Lady
Railsplitter history in assists (1982 – 293 games) and fourth in assists per
game (6.76).
This week the
Lady Railsplitters travel to Frankfort, Kentucky for their second match of
the season with the Thorobrettes of Kentucky State University. The last
time the two teams met on August 27, 2005, the Lady Railsplitters came away
with a 3-0 win over KSU in the LMU Invitational Tournament. Match time
