OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release September 21, 2005 Lady Pioneers No Problem for Lady Railsplitters HARROGATE – The Lincoln Memorial University volleyball team improved to 11-4 Wednesday evening by defeating the Lady Pioneers of Tusculum College 3-0 in an east Tennessee non-conference match. (Box score) The Lady Railsplitters took control of the tempo early on Wednesday by knocking off Tusculum 30-15 in the first game of the evening. Although Tusculum managed to elevate their play in game two, the Lady Splitters managed to pull ahead for the 30-24 victory, and then coasted to a 30-19 win in the final game of the night. Junior Heidi Dreiling (Augusta, Kansas) led the offensive attack for the Lady Railsplitters with 10 kills, while senior setter Allison Holstein (Brownsburg, Indiana) was the floor general contributing 32 assists. Defensively the Lady Railsplitters were equally on their game. Sophomore Karlee Wyrick (Cincinnati, Ohio) helped to carry LMU with 12 digs, while libero Courtney Marton (Springfield, Ohio) finished the night with 11. For Tusculum, Amanda Trent and Katie Hyatt were the spearhead of the offensive attack. Trent recorded 7 kills, while Hyatt added 13 assists. On the defensive end, Alexis Rowles completed the match with 8 digs, and Kylie Lewellen finished with 7. Their first match with the Lady Pioneers now behind them, the LMU women now switch gears for this weekend’s conference matches against Valdosta State and West Florida. Saturday’s match with the Lady Blazers gets underway at 2:00 p.m., while Sunday’s game with West Florida is at 1:00 o’clock. -LMU- For additional
