OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release September 7, 2005 Union Proves No Match for Lady Railsplitters HARROGATE – On Wednesday evening, the Lady Railsplitter volleyball team jumped on its opponent Union College early and never looked back as the LMU women rolled to a 3-0 win over the Lady Bulldogs, 30-17, 30-16 and 30-16 while improving to 7-3 on the year. (box score) LMU junior Joy “The Cross Cut Killer” Otto (Barrington, IL) led the way offensively with 11 kills, while senior setter Allison Holstein (Brownsburg, IN) again surpassed her season best by contributing 36 assists. Defensively the Lady Railsplitters were well balanced with Kirsten Atkinson (Sweeny, TX) recording eight digs and Holstein and Blythe McCulley (Springfield, IL) each logging seven. The Lady Railsplitter will now take several days off before resuming the schedule September 13, in Williamsburg, Kentucky when they play Cumberland University and the University of the Cumberlands in a tri-match. Next Tuesday’s opening match action gets underway at 6:00 p.m. in Williamsburg. -LMU- For additional
