OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release September 5, 2005 Lady Railsplitters Go 2-2 in Carson-Newman Invitational JEFFERSON CITY, TN – The Labor Day weekend turned out to have mixed results for the Lady Railsplitter volleyball team who competed in the Carson-Newman College Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Jefferson City. The Lady Railsplitters opened play in Friday’s first round action with a pair of losses against Newberry College and Palm Beach Atlantic University. LMU was upended 3-1 and 3-0 in their first two games of the tournament, thus dampening spirits somewhat heading into Saturday’s final round. With a new day however, came new hope and more solid play as the Lady Railsplitters bounced back to knock off Augusta State University 3-0 and Lander University 3-2 to bring their season record to 6-3 on the year. This Wednesday the Lady Railsplitters will play host to Kentucky non-conference rival Union College in their only home match until later in the month. The match with the Lady Bulldogs will be the only time LMU and Union will square off this season and gets underway at 6:00 p.m. in the Mary E. Mars Gymnasium.-LMU- For additional
