LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY Office of Sports Information Sports Release May 20, 2008 Henn Makes Earning All-American Look Easy
A 5’7” third baseman/pitcher, Henn led the conference in hitting, slugging percentage, on-base percentage and homeruns this year with a .487 batting average, for 74 hits, 21 doubles, 13 homeruns and 57 runs batted in. For her efforts, she received SAC Player of the Week honors once, First Team All-South Atlantic Conference, South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, Daktronics First Team All-South Atlantic Region and South Atlantic Region Player of the Year. All these accolades came while finishing with the second highest single-season batting average in SAC softball history. Approximately three weeks ago, Henn was recognized at Lincoln Memorial University’s annual athletics banquet as the softball team’s Most Valuable Player and the 2007-08 co-recipient of the LMU Female Athlete of the Year award. “Sara Henn is one of the finest softball players to ever set foot on this campus,” said LMU Softball Head Coach Dan Burns. “Last year Brittney Walker carried the torch, but Sara Henn matches her swing for swing. I look for her to rewrite the LMU record books in the next two years and be a real leader on this team.” While only a sophomore, LMU fans have to wonder, what is next for this master of the game? This spring, Henn led the Lady Railsplitters to a 32-16 season finish along with a 7-7 regular season South Atlantic Conference mark. With the loss of only two seniors to graduation, the next accolades that Henn may be earning could be a conference championship and a berth in the NCAA playoffs in 2009. One thing is for certain, with two years of college eligibility remaining, the sky is the limit for a young lady that has reached the summit of the honors the game of softball has to give. -LMU- For additional comments please contact, Head Coach: Dan Burns Phone: (423) 869-6242 |
