LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY Office of Sports Information Sports Release April 17, 2008 Henn Named SAC Softball Player of the Year; Adams & McPeek Earn Second Team All-Conference Honors
HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial University third baseman/pitcher Sara Henn (Kettering, OH) was named South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year on Thursday evening at the conference’s awards banquet in Newberry, South Carolina. Also receiving all-conference honors were outfielder Jackie Adams (Columbus, OH) and infielder Mira McPeek (Westerville, OH) who were both named to the All-SAC Second Team. Henn, a 5’7” sophomore led the conference in hitting percentage this season with a .500 batting average while also leading the league with a .904 slugging percentage and a .562 on base percentage. Throughout the 2008 season, Henn has accumulated 73 hits, 20 doubles, 13 homeruns and 55 runs batted in to help lead the Lady Railsplitters to a 32-14 record and a No. 4 seed in this week’s South Atlantic Conference Tournament. Named All-South Atlantic Conference Second Team was freshmen Jackie Adams and Mira McPeek. Adams has hit .379 this year from the lead-off position for 55 hits, four doubles, four triples and 12 RBI. McPeek was selected to the All-SAC Second Team as a utility player, playing in a number of positions for the Lady Railsplitters. As of Thursday’s conference tournament win over Mars Hill College, McPeek is hitting .256 with 34 hits, 14 doubles, one homerun and 29 RBI. The Lady Railsplitters are presently involved with in the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Softball Tournament in Newberry, South Carolina where they were victorious in first round play against Mars Hill College.
