Lady Railsplitter Softball Sweeps Virginia Intermont

HARROGATE, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University softball team swept Virginia Intermont in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.  LMU (11-3) won the first game 7-0 and took game two 8-0 in five innings.

LMU got on the scoreboard early and often in the first game as they would score at least one run in every inning.

Jackie Adams led the way offensively as she scored two runs off two hits and added in a RBI as well.  Amanda Wampler picked up the win as she went the distance, allowing only three hits and one walk on the afternoon.

The second game was dominated by LMU pitcher Jessica Locker as she allowed only one hit while striking out nine of the seventeen batters she faced.  Locker improves her season record to 5-2 with the win.  Adams went 3-3 at the plate and scored three runs as well.  Sara Henn also went 3-3 at the plate, scoring two runs and picking up 2 RBI and Alisa Burk went 2-3 with a double and three RBI.

The Lady Railsplitters will next take the field as they host West Virginia State on Tuesday.   First pitch is set for 1:30 pm at Neely Field.
