LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY Office of Sports Information Sports Release February 15, 2008 LMU Softball Team On A Roll HARROGATE, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University Lady Railsplitter softball team continued to add to its best start of the Dan Burns era on Friday afternoon with a double-header sweep of Ohio Valley University at home on the Dorothy Neely Field. Lincoln Memorial rolled over the Fighting Scots on Friday afternoon in their home-opener 9-0 and 10-2 to move to 9-1 on the season entering today’s match-up with the visiting Bobcats of Georgia College and State University. Lady Railsplitter sophomore Jessica Locker (Tipp City, OH) grabbed her fourth win of the year to push her personal record this season to 4-1. Locker pitched five innings of work, allowing only two hits and no damage with nine strikeouts. Freshman Jackie Adams (Columbus, OH) paced the Lady Railsplitters in hitting in the opening game of the day, going 2-2 at the plate with three runs batted in. Adams recorded her first triple of the year in one of her at bats and also notched her ninth stolen base of the season. In Saturday’s second game, Lady Railsplitter senior Amanda Wampler (Powell, TN) picked up the win to remain unbeaten on the year at 4-0. Wampler pitched the first four innings of the five inning game, allowing three hits, two runs and no earned runs with three walks and five strikeouts. Teammate Sarah Henn (Kettering, OH) entered the game in the fifth inning to record her first save of the year as she closed the door by striking out two of the final three Fighting Scot batters. Freshman Mira McPeek (Westerville, OH), senior Alisa Burk (Blaine, WA) and Sara Henn turned in strong performances at the plate to carry LMU in the second game. McPeek was 3-3 at the dish with two RBI, while Burk was 2-2 with three runs batted in and Henn was also 2-2. All three recorded doubles in the game. On Saturday the Lady Railsplitters will switch gears to take on the Bobcats of Georgia College and State University on the Dorothy Neely Field.
