DUE WEST,
SC – The Erskine College
softball team lost 5-4 and 4-2 to Lincoln Memorial to open up the 2008

Lincoln Memorial jumped out to a 5-0 lead early in game one, but the Fleet

over the hump and lost 5-4. Kelly Davis led Erskine at the plate, going 2-3
with a stolen base, while Katie Knapp hit her first home run of the season
and drove in one run. Lauren Gunter took the loss, allowing four earned runs
in four innings of work and striking out five. The Lady Railsplitters were
led on offense by Amanda Wampler and Alisa Burk who were 2-3 with two
doubles each, while Devin Sponseller homered. Jessica Locker picked up the
win, allowing four runs in seven innings and striking out seven.
In game two, the Lady Railsplitters jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first,
but the Fleet would answer back in the bottom of the inning, capped off by a
RBI single from Courtney Davis. Lincoln Memorial would take the lead back
for good in the fourth, taking advantage of an Erskine error to go up 3-2.
They would add an insurance run in the seventh when Wampler hit a solo home
run. Davis and Rebekah George led the Erskine offense with two hits each.
Kaitlin Hunt took the loss, allowing three earned runs in seven innings and
striking out two, while Wampler picked up the win allowing two runs in a
