Lady Railsplitter Softball Team Finishes 3-1 At Catawba Invitational

 

SALISBURY, NC – The Lincoln Memorial University women’s softball team picked up three wins and suffered only one loss over the weekend while participating in the Catawba College Invitational Tournament in Salisbury, North Carolina.

 

On Saturday afternoon the Lady Railsplitters opened the weekend’s action by defeating Queens University 4-1 and West Virginia State University by the final of 5-1.  Senior pitcher Brittney Walker (Ooltewah, TN) picked up the win against Queens while freshman Sara Henn (Kettering, OH) highlighted the game with her fourth homerun of the year.  In game-two on Saturday, junior hurler Kelly Click (Ashland, OH) came away with the win for the Lady Railsplitters over WVSU.  LMU’s Alisa Burk (Blaine, WA) hit a three RBI double late in the game to propel the Lady Splitters to the 5-1 win.

 

In Sunday’s action, LMU lost the first game of the day to Georgia College & State University by the final of 6-4, before coming back to win game two in the final inning against Francis Marion University 2-1.  No statistics were available for either game at press time.

 

Now 12-7 on the year, the Lady Railsplitters will be in action this week against Mars Hill College on Wednesday on the road and Alderson Broaddus College on Thursday at home on the Dorothy Neely Field at 2:00 p.m.  Next weekend the LMU women travel to Due West, South Carolina to take on Erskine College.
