North Georgia Comes Back To Top LMU 4-2

DAHLONEGA, Ga – North Georgia College & State University overcame a two run fifth inning deficit, and Leslee Smith kept her hot streak going with two more RBI’s as the Saints get by Lincoln Memorial University 4-2 here Saturday night at the Ryan’s Classic.

Lincoln Memorial grabbed a single run in the third inning with a groundout to third by Sarah Henn to plate Amanda Wampler for a 1-0 lead. The Lady Railsplitters added another run with a double from Jessica Locker to take a 2-0 lead.

The Saints were finally able to scrape together a run in the fifth when Krista Bess raced to the plate on a fielder’s choice to tie the game 2-2. The following inning, the Saints finally broke out with three big runs on four hits to take the lead. Smith once again came up with the big hit, this time a two-run triple to deep right to give the Saints a 3-2 lead. Smith would race home on a wild pitch to the next batter and Saints put their fourth run across in a row to lead 4-2.

Andrea Moss (17-4) picked up her second win of the day as she went seven innings giving up seven hits and two runs. Moss also struck out five and walked three. Brittney Walker (11-7) gets the loss in five innings, as she allowed six hits and three runs while fanning seven Saints’ batters.

The Saints return to action Sunday morning at 10:00am as they face off against 8th-Ranked Florida Gulf Coast in the Ryan’s Classic.
