2006 Was All-Conference Year for Evans

HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial University softball first baseman Tiffany Evans (Bowling Green, KY) has been named All-Gulf South Conference Second Team by the head coaches throughout the league’s eastern division.

A 6’0” junior with local ties, Evan’s roots hail from nearby Middleboro, Kentucky where her parents both grew up and attended school.  This season, Evans finished fourth on the Lady Railsplitter squad in hitting percentage at .291, but ranked first in homeruns with 13 and third in runs batted in with 35, while also accumulating 11 doubles.

With Evans help both at the plate and on the bag at first, the Lady Railsplitters tied the program record for most wins in a season (37), while completing the 2006 schedule with a 37-27 overall record.

Although the Lady Railsplitters didn’t earn a trip to the conference tournament this year, the loss of only three seniors from the squad should assure Lincoln Memorial of a solid foundation when they move to the South Atlantic Conference and the NCAA Southeast Region next year.

Evans will join teammates Brittney Walker (Ooltewah, TN), Gina Grace (Placerville, CA) and Cassey Schutte (Springfield, OH) as the most experienced players returning to lead the Lady Railsplitters next season in their new endeavors.
