GSC Weekly Honors Aren’t Uncommon For Walker

HARROGATE, TN – For the second time this season, Lincoln Memorial University softball player Brittney Walker (Ooltewah, TN) has received Gulf South Conference Eastern Division weekly honors for her efforts with the Lady Railsplitters.

A 5’7” pitcher/outfielder, Walker is a two-time All-GSC selection and was projected in the preseason as an All-Gulf South Conference performer again this year.  Her first weekly honors came on March 8th following a perfect 4-0 performance in the circle in which she allowed only one hit, one run and one earned run with an incredible 33 strikeouts over 28 innings pitched.

This week, Walker received GSC Player of the week honors for the Lady Railsplitter’s run last week of four consecutive victories over the University of the Cumberlands and Brevard College.  During those games, the LMU junior turned in a .538 hitting percentage by going 7-13 at the plate with 5 RBI, one double, two triples and two homeruns.  In addition, she accumulated a 1.385 slugging percentage and a .625 on-base percentage.

The Lady Railsplitters are 24-18 on the year and will travel to Decatur, Alabama later this week to play in the Gulf South Conference Crossover against eight GSC Western Division opponents.
