LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY Office of Sports Information Sports Release April 22, 2006 Lady Splitters Lose First Two Against UAH HARROGATE, TN – In Saturday’s opening games of a four game series with the University of Alabama-Huntsville, the Lady Railsplitter softball team came up on the losing end of the score, falling 12-1 and 8-2 to the Lady Chargers. While Lincoln Memorial (32-26) has already been mathematically eliminated from GSC Tournament contention, this weekend’s series combined with next weekend’s season finale gave the LMU women the opportunity to set a record for most wins in a single season. If the Lady Railsplitters can bounce back and win the final two on Sunday against UAH, and then sweep West Alabama next weekend in the four-game set, that could still happen. Jessica Stewart (Loudon, TN) got the loss in game one against UAH. Stewart went five of the six innings, giving up 11 hits and all 12 runs in the 12-1 loss to the Lady Chargers. Kelly Click (Ashland, OH) pitched the final inning for LMU and gave up only one hit. Click came back to earn the start in the second game of the evening with Brittney Walker (Ooltewah, TN) out of the starting rotation due to an injured shoulder. Click gave up eight hits and eight runs in the 8-2 loss in the nightcap. Games three and four between LMU and UAH are slated for a noon start on Sunday, with senior weekend and the season finale next Saturday and Sunday against the University of West Alabama.-LMU- For additional comments please contact, Head Coach: Dan Burns Phone: (423) 869-6242 |
