Losses to West Georgia End Lady Splitter Tournament Hopes

CARROLLTON, GA – Over the weekend, the Lincoln Memorial University Lady Railsplitters were defeated in three of four games played against the University of West Georgia, thus mathematically sealing their fate of not making the GSC Tournament for the second consecutive year.

The Lady Railsplitters were swept in the first two games of the series on Friday, losing 5-0 and 4-0 to ultimately eliminate them from tournament contention.  Then on Saturday, the LMU women came out and notched an 8-3 victory, before getting run ruled 8-0 in the final game of the weekend to drop the series 3-1.

Now 32-24 overall and 8-16 in conference play, the Lady Railsplitters have only conference series with Alabama-Huntsville and West Alabama, and a non-conference double-header with King College before they close out the regular season.

This weekend the Lady Railsplitters will host the Lady Chargers of the University of Alabama-Huntsville.  The four-game series gets underway Saturday at 3:00 p.m.; while Sunday’s final two games will start at noon on LMU’s Dorothy Neely Field.
