LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY Office of Sports Information Sports Release December 7, 2006 LMU Softball Team Has Early Signees for 2007-08 Season
HARROGATE, TN – With the beginning of 2007 season just around the corner, Lincoln Memorial University softball Head Coach Dan Burns has been scouring the recruiting trail thinking of the future of the Lady Railsplitters. On Thursday morning Burns announced that Mira McPeek (Westerville, OH) and Breanne Williams (Ooltewah, TN) have decided to sign early with Lincoln Memorial University, making them the first signees of the 2007-08 school year in regard to softball. McPeek, a product of Ohio’s Worthington High School hit .324 as a junior, while recording a .413 on base percentage, a .515 slugging percentage and a .974 fielding percentage. She will enter the Lady Railsplitter program as a third basemen/second basemen/pitcher and will help to replace outgoing seniors Gina Grace, Brittney Walker, Cassey Schutte and Tiffany Evans. Mira is the daughter of Bob and Carrie McPeek of Westerville, Ohio and is undecided at this time as to what major she will pursue when she reports to campus for the 2007 fall semester. Williams hails from Ooltewah, Tennessee and played her prep career for Silverdale Baptist High School for Head Coach Chip Liner. While on the prep level, Williams was voted all-district, all-tournament, and mid-season all-tournament in 2006, while earning a golden glove for her efforts in 2005. She has been a varsity starter at either third base, first base, second base or catcher since she was a ninth grader in 2004. Breanne is the daughter of Dale and Darlene Williams and will be pursuing a degree in Education while attending Lincoln Memorial University next fall. The 2007-08 season will be an especially eventful season for the Lincoln Memorial University softball team, as it will mark the University’s first season of eligibility to compete for the South Atlantic Conference title. -LMU- For additional comments please contact, Head Coach: Dan Burns Phone: (423) 869-6242 |
