LMU Soccer Teams Enter NCAA Regional Tournaments

HARROGATE, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University men’s and women’s soccer teams go into battle again on Friday when they will compete in their respective NCAA Regional Tournaments.

The Lady Railsplitters departed Thursday morning for Savannah, Georgia in preparation for their first round NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament match with Armstrong Atlantic State University at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.  The Lady Railsplitters are the #5 seed and AASU represents the #4 seed in this year’s tournament.  The winner will face #1 seed Tusculum College on Sunday afternoon in Savannah.

The Railsplitters enter the 2007 NCAA Appalachian Region Tournament as the #1 seed and will square off against #4 seed Wingate University in the opening round on Friday at 4:00 p.m. in Greeneville, Tennessee.  The winner of Friday’s first round will face the winner of the #2 seed Tusculum College match with #3 seed Carson-Newman College on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Greeneville.

This Friday’s action marks the first time in Lincoln Memorial University history that both soccer teams have competed in the same year in NCAA Regional Tournament play.  While LMU is encouraging fans to travel to Greeneville and Savannah in support of its soccer teams, fans who aren’t able to make the trip can listen to live webcasts offered by Wingate University and Armstrong Atlantic State University through the LMU athletics website at www.lmunet.edu/athletics.
