LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release October 6, 2007 Lady Railsplitters Continue To Roll HARROGATE, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University Lady Railsplitter soccer team won its fifth consecutive match on Saturday afternoon when it traveled to Hickory, North Carolina and defeated the Lenoir-Rhyne College Bears 3-1.
The Lady Railsplitter’s run began on September 19 when they defeated then top-10 ranked Tusculum College 3-1 in Harrogate. Since that time, the LMU women have recorded wins over West Virginia Tech, Brevard College, Asbury College and today Lenoir-Rhyne College.
Now 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the South Atlantic Conference, the Lady Railsplitters are right back in the hunt to capture the South Atlantic Conference regular season championship. The LMU women are only one game behind league-leading Catawba College (3-0-1) in the SAC standings, with the two teams scheduled to meet October 20 in Harrogate.
Before the LMU women face off against the Catawba Indians, the Lady Railsplitters must travel to Clinton, South Carolina on October 10, host Milligan College on October 12 and travel to Jefferson City, Tennessee to take on arch-rival Carson-Newman College October 17.
With only three league matches under their belts, there is still a lot of soccer to be played throughout the remainder of the regular season for the Lady Railsplitters. Having won their last five outings however, it appears that LMU Head Coach Helio D’Anna has his team finely tuned and ready to make a run at a conference title. -LMU- For additional comments please contact, |
