OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release August 27, 2007 LMU Cross Country Team Wins Season Opener HARROGATE, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University men’s cross country team hit the ground running Saturday evening when it traveled to Cleveland, Tennessee and won the Lee Invitational in the opening meet of the season. LMU had five of the top-10 finishers with All-South Atlantic Conference First Team member Jeremy Donahue (Sevierville, TN) taking top honors with a time of 28:13.74. Finishing closely behind was teammate and First Team All-SAC member Ted Johnson (Winneconne, WI) who placed second in 28:32.67 and Second Team All-SAC member Josh Armentrout (Jonesborough, TN) who was fourth, coming in at 28:59.80. Closing out the top-10 for Lincoln Memorial were Mark Paulson (Neenah, WI), also a First Team All-South Atlantic Conference member and David Mullins (Clintwood, VA). Paulson finished the race with a time of 29:12.69, in sixth place, while Mullins was seventh with a time of 29:22.12. Lincoln Memorial’s Kyle Henderson (Lyn, Ontario, Canada) finished this weekend’s race in fourteenth place with a time of 30:16.02 and Railsplitter Andras Pauko (Budapest, Hungary) was twenty-third, finishing in 32:31.62. Finishing behind Lincoln Memorial were, host Lee University (2), Young Harris College (3), Tennessee Wesleyan College (4) and Hiwassee College (5). This weekend the Railsplitters travel to Sewanee, Tennessee for the Sewanee Invitational riding the momentum the Lee Invitational. Taking into consideration that Lincoln Memorial is loaded with veteran runners, the Railsplitters could be taking the tape quite often this season. -LMU-
