OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release November 3, 2007 Cross Country Teams End Season At NCAA Southeast Regionals
WINGATE, NC – Lincoln Memorial University’s cross country teams competed on Saturday in the NCAA Southeast Regional meet held in Wingate, North Carolina.
The Lincoln Memorial University men’s cross country team finished 8th overall and 4th highest among the South Atlantic Conference teams participating in the meet. LMU’s Mark Paulson was the only Railsplitter runner to crack the top-20, finishing the race in 34:16 to place 20th overall, while teammate Ted Johnson finished closely behind in 22nd place with a time of 34:24.
After last season’s NCAA National Tournament appearance, the Lincoln Memorial University women finished 6th in Saturday’s race with Jennifer Ely and Michelle Ratliff the top finishers among the Lady Railsplitters. Ely placed 31st with a time of 25:34, while Ratliff came in 32nd in 25:44.
Both squads end a very successful season with Saturday’s race and will resume competition in the spring. The Railsplitters return a solid nucleus that includes Mark Paulson and Ted Johnson, while the Lady Railsplitters will have Jessica Brandes, Emily Burke and Jennifer Ely returning. -LMU-
