LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release August 7, 2006 Lady Railsplitters Add To Their Inside Game the California Way HARROGATE, TN – With the 2006-07 basketball season only a few months away, Lincoln Memorial University women’s basketball coach Roger Vannoy has added again to an already talented arsenal for the upcoming season. Recently, Vannoy signed Laura Elliot, a 6’1” junior college transfer from Ohlone Community College in Fremont, California. Last season Elliot was named All-Coast Conference and Honorable Mention All-State, while receiving Team MVP honors for Ohlone Community College. In addition to her talents on the floor, Elliot is also a good student and will be majoring in Communication Arts while attending Lincoln Memorial University. “Laura is a “blue collar” player,” Vannoy said quoting Elliot’s junior college coach Elizabeth Stanley. “She is a tireless worker with a solid low post game. I look for her to be a leader on our team.” Elliot brings with her an average of 9.65 points per game and 7.5 rebounds following last season’s final year of junior college basketball. She will be joining a Lady Railsplitter team that finished the 2005-06 campaign with a 7-20 overall record in its final year of membership with the Gulf South Conference. This season Lincoln Memorial will be competing as a new member of the South Atlantic Conference along with Carson-Newman College, Tusculum College, Mars Hill College, Lenoir-Rhyne College, Newberry College, Wingate University, Presbyterian College and Catawba College.-LMU- For additional
