Division I Transfer To Play For Lady Railsplitters

HARROGATE, TN – Another of the missing pieces to the puzzle for the 2006-07 Lady Railsplitter basketball team has been found.  At least that is the opinion of Lincoln Memorial University women’s basketball Head Coach Roger Vannoy.

This week, Vannoy received official word that Betsy Bowser, a 5’6” transfer from Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio would play her final year of eligibility for the Lady Railsplitters next season.  “Betsy could be one of the best point guards I have ever coached,” said Vannoy.  “She is a perfect fit for our team’s needs.  She brings experience and leadership to the team and has great court presence.  She is an extremely clever player.”

Originally from Galveston, Indiana, Bowser played her prep career at Lewis Cass High School where she helped guide her team to a sectional championship all four years and a regional championship in 2001.

Individually, Bowser received several awards during her high school career including, all-conference and all-region, and was named one of the state of Indiana’s top 100 seniors by Indiana Hoosier Basketball Magazine.

Over three seasons at Cleveland State University, Bowser has appeared in 79 games for the Vikings, starting in 13.  She will join a Lady Railsplitter program that lost starting point guard Chasity Williams (Evansville, IN) who has exhausted her athletic eligibility.  Bowser and Andi Winney (Yorktown, IN), are Vannoy’s first two signees for the 2006-07 season.
